13.00-13.30 - Guild business meeting

14:00-15.00  - Talk by an invited speaker
If we don't have a speaker then this slot converts to social time.

15.00-16:30 - Social time

Put away chairs and tables, clear kitchen - leave by 17:00

WEAVERS CHATS


The Guild weavers normally meet at Speen Parish Hall, Newbury, RG14 1RJ on the last Saturday of the month from 09.30 – 13.30.

The next meeting will be 25th January 2025.

Other dates for 2025 are 22nd February 29th March, no meeting in April, 31st May, 28th June,
26th July, 23rd August, 27th September, and 25th October. All these meetings from 9.30 a.m.
until 1.30 p.m. The final meeting for 2025 will be 22nd November from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

£4.00 to cover the cost of the hall.

FEBRUARY 2025​

Sat 1st February
Guild Meeting 10.00 -16.30

Simon Cooper of Flaxlands will be giving a talk at 10.30am followed by a workshop at 2pm which will cover preparing fibres for spinning on a wheel or drop spindle.  Simon is a master of his craft and has many years experience growing and using flax fibres in many different ways.

MARCH 2025​

Deby from Dyelution will be giving a talk on the history of silk followed by an afternoon workshop painting skeins of silk yarn.

APRIL 2025​​

AGM and shared lunch.

Sun 6th April

Rebecca Connolly will run two, three-hour workshops at Speen Memorial Hall using a body tensioned loom.  
These workshops will start at 10am and 2pm, with a maximum of six people for each session.

Marie-Claude Cousin will be talking about her lifetime passion for colour, aspects of colour theory and how renowned artists have applied colour in their work. This will be followed by an afternoon workshop on card winding with all materials provided.

Daniel Harris of the London Cloth Company has been booked to give a talk about his weaving career and how he came to buy the derelict Elvet mill in South Wales which he is now in the process of restoring to functioning weaving mill.  He has met many challenges along the way and no doubt has many more to come.  
His talk is highly entertaining and informative and his enthusiasm infectious.
