The Huguenots and Their Heritage.
Speakers: Charlie de Wet and Tim Kidd.

Charlie and Tim gave us an illustrated talk about the Huguenots and their immigration to England, settling in the City, Soho, Greenwich, and Clerkenwell. We learnt what the Huguenots brought with them and the legacy they
left behind.

We discovered that we've got some Huguenot heritage in the midst of our membership! If you would like to find out about the Huguenots have a good look around the Huguenots of Spitalfields web site.

Felicity Ford - KNITSONIK

Felicity Ford is the brains behind KNITSONIK and we were delighted to welcome her to the Kennet Valley Guild as our Speaker.

Felicity's talk was creatively inspiring.

We were enthralled to hear about Felicity's knitted work and art installations, which have included knitted covers for a
collection of suspended speakers which play sounds that represent a sense of place.

Sound recordings are a vital part Felicity's creative thinking. She is deeply connected to the history of her craft and to the modern interpretation of motifs and techniques from traditional fairisle stitch paterns.

Felicity's stranded colourwork includes representations of subjects found in natural and urban settings.

The Dyers Tropy

A diverse collection of dyed pieces were entered into the competition.
Marion Proctor won the award with her beautiful silk, hand dyed, spun and woven scarf (pictured across Marion's shoulder and detail image to the right of Marion).
